It is kinda neat and definitely an honor to be profiled in the Sacramento Real Producers Magazine. The article profiles the series of life events leading to my nearly 19-year career as a top-producing agent, as well as my passion for service to the Sacramento, California, and National Associations of Realtors, and advocacy on behalf of our profession. Ranked in the Top 5% of Realtors by Homesnap for the first half of 2022

Homesnap released out its mid-year agent rankings this week, and apparently for the first half of 2022 I am ranked in the Top 5% -- which is their highest tier. Pretty cool. It has been a busy year thus far and I appreciate my clients for their trust in the home buying or selling process.

2021 was immensely busy! Thanks to all my clients who trusted me with their Sacramento real estate transactions... to be recognized as being in the TOP ONE PERCENT of all individual Coldwell Banker Realty agents worldwide is pretty amazing and puts me in a pretty elite group.

Received the 5-STAR Award for the 8th year in a row!

I have received the 5-STAR Award for the 8th year in a row! Such a huge accomplishment to be repeatedly nominated for this award.

I finished 2020 ranked as #9 out of 618 individual Coldwell Banker agents in the multi-county Sacramento region...

To say that 2020 was a crazy year is an understatement for many reasons...but today Coldwell Banker released the final numbers for the year, and I was excited to see that I cracked the Top 10! At Coldwell Banker for the entire multi-county Sacramento region, I was the #9 individual producer out of 618 individual agents. 

Doing the math, it puts me squarely in the top 1.5%. That qualifies me for something called the "International President's Elite" award. 

I am super grateful for my many clients who entrusted me with their transactions. And 2021 is already off to a busy start! 

Coldwell Banker Realty - Top Producer Trifecta: ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!

June 2020 capped off an extremely busy quarter for me, and as it turns out I swept all of the Top Producer categories in my office for the month. While I pretty frequently appear in the Top 10 in my office each month, I have only achieved 'the Trifecta' one other time.

A unexpectedly amazing start to 2020 - honored by the Sacramento Association of Realtors as the "Realtor of the Year"

I was really excited for the 2020 Sacramento Association of Realtors Officers and Directors Installation event this year, because after serving 8 years on the Board of Directors, this year I stepped up to serve the association at a higher level as Secretary/Treasurer of the Board. What I was not expecting was to be the recipient of the 2019 "REALTOR of the Year" award.

This is the highest honor given by the association. An Awards Committee selects the recipient and the criteria is quite rigorous -- things like sustained participation as an association volunteer, effective leadership and an ability to generate participation by others in association activities, charitable and public service outside the association, etc. The association gives this to one person each year. As of December, the Sacramento Association of Realtors had over 7,500 members. And this year I was given the award.

I was shocked and humbled to say the very least. And so thankful that my brother and his soon-to-be wife were in attendance at the installation event.

It feels a little strange to get an award for efforts I find so personally gratifying in so many ways. I initially got involved with the association in 2008, a few years after getting my real estate license in 2005. Since then, I have done a long list of things such as serve on or chaired committees, forums, task forces, was President of the Masters Club, and helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the community. I truly love our great organization and my fellow association members who all advocate for the same causes and volunteer to make our Sacramento community a better place. Walking into any committee meeting, event, or forum, I’m surrounded by friends and I’m forever grateful for that.

On a personal level, my 2019 was a pretty emotionally trying year with the loss of my mom to lung cancer in the spring. For 2020 I had been hoping to be able to have an emotional reset of sorts, and to kick things off in this way was an unexpectedly amazing start to the year.

Number One Agent in my Coldwell Banker Sierra Oaks office September 2019...

September was a pretty busy month. So busy that I was the number one producer for my Coldwell Banker office in September. I have been the top individual producer several times (and was the #1 individual producer in my office for all 2018), but notably this month I beat out all the TEAMS, which is quite an accomplishment. Teams can have many people (in my office, some have up to 6-7 agents) contributing to the production of the group. I closed a total of 6 transactions for a total of $2.77M. (Believe it or not, this is not my single highest producing month ever...last year in July 2018, I closed 10 transactions for a total of $4.86M - and with that I was the top individual, though a large team beat me for total production. Oh well! LOL)

#1 Individual agent in my Coldwell Banker office for 2018

I was out of town last week in Indian Wells attending the committee and board meetings for the California Association of Realtors, and was not in my office for the annual "kick-off" meeting. Having missed the formal presentation, my Coldwell Banker Sierra Oaks office gave me two “crowns” this week for being the #1 individual agent in my office for all of 2018 for both total dollar volume and total number of transactions.

As I outlined in a post last month about my 2018 real estate transaction statistics, it was a busy year and I am so far experiencing a super busy 2019 as well. Cheers!

A great start to 2019 - honored by the Sacramento Association of Realtors for my work in real estate advocacy...

It's nice to be recognized for my efforts, and last night at the officer and directors installation event at the Sacramento Association of Realtors I received an award for my efforts in political affairs. I imagine this is due in large part to helping orchestrate association's the "Yes on 5, No on 10" campaign locally during the election cycle, among other activities I help with as a member of the board of directors for the California Association of Realtors. I do not think many people are aware, but the Realtors associations are among the only advocates for private property rights and homeownership. I love being involved in our advocacy endeavors. Onward!

In the Top 2% of over 50,000 NRT Agents Nationally!

It’s not everyday I get a letter from the President/CEO of the company with congratulations for being in the top 2% of over 50,000 agents nationally. Cheers to another busy year ahead!

Top Individual Agent in my Coldwell Banker Sierra Oaks office FOUR months straight...

It has been a BUSY summer and I have nothing to complain about...for the 4th month in a row I am the top producing individual agent in my office. Needless to say, I have thrived since joining Coldwell Banker Sierra Oaks. Looking forward to continuing to be busy helping buyers and sellers throughout Sacramento.

Top Producer Trifecta for May 2018 in my Coldwell Banker Sierra Oaks office...

In my first full month at my new office at Coldwell Banker in Sierra Oaks, I hit the trifecta: Top Closer, Top Seller, and Top Listing Agent in the office. You will see they rank "teams" (groups of multiple agents) and individuals, and I swept the individual category. There are well over 100 agents in my office, and it's nice to see I rank among the top, and clearly I hit the ground running after transitioning to this Coldwell Banker office from another brokerage in mid-April.

Graduated with my Master's Degree in Public Policy and Administration!!!

I have a list of goals. Small goals, big goals, and BIG goals. And about 5 years ago, I set a BIG goal for myself. I decided to work toward a Master's Degree in Public Policy and Administration (MPPA).

Why? My friends and family all asked me this. I did not have a clear answer other than the fact I had a deep interest in housing policy issues thanks to my involvement in the Sacramento and California Associations of Realtors, and I felt I wanted to deepen my understanding of policy analysis. [Analysis and advocacy are two very different things.] And to answer the question everyone seemed to ask: NO, I AM NOT changing careers. I continue to be a full-time, top-producing Sacramento real estate broker. I am perhaps just a smarter, geekier realtor now.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Spanish with a minor in Ethnic Studies back in 2001 -- a far cry from the study of Public Policy and Administration. Before I could even apply to the MPPA program, I had to enroll in prerequisite coursework in Economics, Government, and Statistics. So in the spring semester of 2014 I enrolled at American River College and for the next three semesters knocked out those classes. I applied for the MPPA program and was accepted, and in the fall semester of 2015 started the MPPA program at California State University Sacramento. 

Initially I felt like a fish out of water - generally I was a bit older than most of the other students in the program, and most of the other students worked for public agencies, in legislative offices, or were lobbyists. Thankfully, they all were my nerdy kindred spirits and we all had a love for policy. I fit right in.

Not only did I fit right in, but as it turns out, I really excelled in my coursework. I took classes in applied economic analysis, public administration, quantitative analysis, urban policy, research methods and more. I wrote papers on all sorts of nerdy policy topics ranging from homelessness, the supply and demand of labor markets, short-term rentals and the sharing economy, organizational performance metrics, homeownership rates, and determinants of home value. I wrote my thesis on the positive and negative spillover effects associated with the growth in numbers of Homeowners Associations in Sacramento County. It was a lot of hard work and I loved every minute of it. 

I liked it so much that I got involved in the Graduate Association of Students in Public Policy and Administration (GASPPA) and served as Treasurer for 2017-2018. The Faculty asked me to sit on the hiring committee for a new faculty member, which was a really interesting experience. My professors encouraged me to submit my research on Homeowners Associations to different student research symposiums, and I ended up presenting my research in three separate events, which was really awesome. 

And the craziest part...I had the highest GPA in my program at 3.97 (darn that one A-). The faculty of my department selected me for the 2018 Cristy Jensen Award, named for the founder of the MPPA program. And last but not least, the Dean of the College of Social Science and Interdisciplinary Studies named me Graduate Student of the Year for 2018 for the SSIS Department. And I graduated "with Distinction". 

So May 18, 2018 I walked across the stage at the Golden 1 Arena. What a ride! I can't say enough great things about the program, faculty, and my fellow students. It was a lot of work, and during my 1.5 years of prerequisites and 3 years in the MPPA program I managed to do all that and remain a top producing Realtor. In fact if anything I just got busier while I was in graduate school.

So now what? Well I am maybe the nerdiest Realtor in Sacramento. And being done with school, I have more time on my hands for something - I guess my next BIG goal, whatever that turns out to be.

Officially an Outstanding Life Member of the Sacramento Association of Realtors Masters Club!

This last week I was honored for my high level of productivity as a Sacramento Realtor, and designated as an Outstanding Life Member of the Masters Club. To qualify as a member of the Masters Club, a Realtor must be in approximately the top 8-10% of all Realtors in Sacramento.

The criteria for being an Outstanding Life Member is qualifying for the Masters Club for 10 out of the last 15 years. I am 10-for-10, having qualified for 10 years in a row!

I am definitely among the youngest members of this elite crowd at the age of 38. This was the culmination of a decade of hard work, including time serving on the Masters Club Steering Committee and as its President in 2012! Many thanks to all of my clients who entrusted me with their real estate transactions. I look forward to many more years as a top producing Realtor.

Named as a "Five Star Real Estate Agent" in Sacramento

For the 3rd year in a row, I have been named as a "Five Star Real Estate Agent" in Sacramento for 2017. The Five Star organization does research in metro areas and surveys those who have purchased or sold property. In order to be named a "Five Star Real Estate Agent" in Sacramento, consumers have given me the highest marks for exceptional client satisfaction and service. So this is a great honor yet again! It's nice to be recognized by my clients and the community. And there is an article in this month's Sacramento Magazine as well.

Qualified to be an Outstanding Life Member of the Sacramento Association of Realtors Masters Club!

When I first started in real estate many moons ago, the biggest goal I set for myself was to qualify to become a member of the Sacramento Association of Realtors Masters Club. Qualifying involves meeting the minimum sales production levels as set by the Masters Club Steering Committee, which means closing a minimum number of transactions and minimum total dollar volume for the year. They generally set the goals to be in line with the top 5-10% of all Realtors in the Sacramento area.

Well, I did not qualify in my first year...however, I did qualify and became a member in my second year. As of last week, something 11 years in the making, I closed my qualifying transaction for the 10th year in a row. And with that, I have met the criteria for 2016 to become an "Outstanding Life Member" of the Masters Club. And I gotta say, I am SO excited about it!

Qualifying as an Outstanding Life Member requires meeting the membership criteria for 10 out of the last 15 years. Definitely not a goal one can achieve without a lot of hard work, cycling through ups and downs in the real estate market, and without some tenure in the business.

Masters Club holds a special place in my heart for another reason as well...I served on the steering committee from 2009 - 2014, and was elected Masters Club President from 2012 - 2013.

It seems like just yesterday I was brand new to real estate...but that yesterday was 11 years ago. It's amazing to think I have helped literally hundreds of people buy or sell properties in Sacramento. It's gratifying to see my hard work and perseverance all come together.

I had the honor of being the "Installing Officer" for the 2016 Masters Club Steering Committee...

As some of my regular blog readers may remember, I was President of the Sacramento Association of Realtors Masters Club in 2012... and I was honored when my good friend and fellow Realtor Kellie Swayne asked me to be the "Installing Officer" of the 2016 Masters Club Steering Committee. I had the distinct pleasure of swearing her in as 2016 President as well as administering the oath for the rest of the committee in this last weekend. The Masters Club is definitely an organization that is close to my heart! In addition to being a club of the top producing Realtors in Sacramento, we raise thousands of dollars for local charities. Good stuff!
